Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-10-29.

Draft for review. This page is a draft for review by the founder and a solicitor before launch. It is not yet in force and may change.

These terms govern your use of the Public Ads API, website and dashboard ("the Service"), run by Sharp Studios Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15591412 ("we", "us"). By creating an account, claiming an agent account or sending requests to the Service, you accept these terms on behalf of yourself or the organisation you act for.

1. The Service

The Service reads the public ad libraries of Meta, Google, TikTok and LinkedIn when you ask it to, and returns what they show as structured data. Public Ads API is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

The libraries are the platforms' own, and they decide what to publish. We give no warranty that any platform keeps publishing its library, keeps it in the same form, or shows every ad that ran; that a filter keeps working; or that the data is complete, accurate or current. When a platform changes its library, calls to it may fail until we adapt. If a platform stops publishing, blocks us or the law changes, we may stop offering that platform, and will tell you by email first where we can.

2. Your account and keys

  • Give accurate details, and keep your sign-in and API keys secret.
  • You are responsible for every call made with your keys, by you or anyone you let use them, including an AI agent acting for you.
  • An AI agent may open an account for its user with POST /v1/agent/signup. Until a person claims it, we hold it with the limits set out in the docs. Whoever claims it accepts these terms for it, including the calls made before the claim.
  • One free account per person or organisation. Don't open accounts to get more free credits.

3. Acceptable use

The Service is for research into advertising. You may use it, for example, for:

  • competitive research: seeing what other advertisers run, where and when;
  • ad and creative analysis, market research and reporting for you or your clients;
  • monitoring advertising, your own included;
  • academic research, journalism and transparency work.

You must not use the Service, or anything it returns:

  • to profile, track, target or contact private individuals, such as people who appear in ads or who advertise in their own name, or to build lists of them;
  • to harass, intimidate, stalk or discriminate against anyone;
  • in a way that infringes the rights of the platforms, advertisers or anyone else in the ads, including copyright and trade marks in their text, images and video;
  • to do anything unlawful, or to help someone else do so;
  • to resell or give others raw access to the Service, or to build a competing ad library API on it, without our written agreement;
  • to get round our limits, credits or security, to send traffic meant to overload the Service, or to probe or attack it or the platforms through it.

We may suspend or end access, an agent account's included, if we reasonably believe use breaks this section, risks harm to people, to the Service or to a platform, or if the law requires it. Where it is practical and lawful we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

4. What the Service returns

Ads, their text, images and video belong to the advertisers and platforms, not to us or to you. We pass on what the libraries publish. Media addresses are the platforms' own and expire. You are responsible for having the right to use what you keep and publish, beyond what the law already allows (such as research, criticism, review or reporting).

Some ads contain personal data, such as the name of a person who advertises in their own name. You decide what you do with it, so you are responsible for doing so lawfully, including under data protection law.

5. Credits, fees and billing

  • Calls use credits as the pricing page and the docs set out. Empty results, errors and sandbox calls use none.
  • The free plan includes 100 credits a month. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance, and extra credits ($0.0025 each on Free with a card) monthly in arrears, in US dollars, by card through Stripe, plus any tax due.
  • Credits run by calendar month (UTC) and do not carry over. You can cancel a paid plan at any time; it ends at the end of the month you have paid for. We don't refund part months, except where the law requires.
  • If a payment fails, live calls stop until it is paid (on Free with a card, only the extra credits stop). We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email; the new price applies from your next month after that.

6. Availability and support

We aim to keep the Service available and to answer support email promptly, but give no guarantee of availability or response time unless we agree one in writing (Enterprise). The platforms' own outages and blocks are outside our control; we don't charge for calls they cause to fail.

7. Ending

You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time from the dashboard or by email. We may end the Service for everyone with 30 days' notice. Sections 4, 8 and 10 survive.

8. Liability

The Service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, and our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that time and US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

You will compensate us for claims by others that arise from your use of the Service in breach of section 3 or 4.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For a material change we give at least 30 days' notice by email; using the Service after the change takes effect means you accept it.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Our privacy policy says what we keep about you. Questions: [email protected].
